Children's Birthday Cake Ideas
Sometimes the biggest challenge of your child’s birthday party is
what and how to do the cake. You will have so many options that you can
do pretty much do anything. You can have the cake made for you or do it
yourself. You want to consider the age of the children, the theme of the
party and the number of people that are going to eat the cake when you
order or bake the cake. You can create a cake to go with the party
theme, or your child’s favorite character or place even. You also need
to think about what type of cake you want, chocolate or any of the many
other options.
Let’s look at a list of cake themes you could use at your child’s
birthday party. Let’s start with small children first:
Block Cake pieces (using an ABC’s or Lego or animal patterns)
Cupcakes
(you can do so many things with cupcakes and they are the perfect size
for little tummies)
A cake in the shape of the number of their age (this will be fun and
help them learn there numbers at the same time, you can find cake tins
in the shape of numbers)
A cake with your child’s favorite character or animal (Mickey Mouse,
Superman, Cinderella, Baby Einstein, horse, or a dog) this can be
decorations on the cake or plastic toys that the child can keep and play
with.
Ok if you have an older child you have so many options let’s take a
look at some of the many ideas you can use:
A cake themed on your child’s favorite place to go (the zoo, the
park, a museum, a trip you recently took or even somewhere they are
excited to go)
A cake that is an object (a castle, a sport, cars, animals, shapes,
moon and stars, sun and rays, a flower box, a season, or even foods like
a hamburger for example)
A flat cake with decorations (you have many options here; you can
decorate with frosting and gels, you can use pre-made decorations such
as roses, letters and shapes, and you can create characters or objects
with frosting as well)
You can us cupcakes (this will help control portions and ease clean
up)
For the advanced cake maker you can cut your cake into shapes and
make more elaborate cakes (make a dragon, a basket ball, a wrapped gift,
a cat, a crayon and anything else you can think of)
Let’s take a look at what you can specifically do with cupcakes.
These can help you control portions and if you are having a larger party
this will be easier during the hand out process.

with a cherry)

them

mint chocolate chip or any of your child’s favorite)
Create the cupcakes so when you arrange them the create something (a
caterpillar, a flower, a dragon or anything you can think of)
Another idea you may want to consider is making the cupcakes in
something the children can take come (a cup, a miniature sports cap,
anything you can think of, just be sure that it will be ok to place in
the oven before you bake them)
